LE BOURGET, France — Malaysia Airlines says it has exercised an option to buy 10 more Boeing 737 planes in a deal worth $800 million at list prices.
The Kuala Lumpur-based national flag carrier detailed the purchase of single-aisle 737-800s at the Paris Air Show on Tuesday — in effect doubling a similiar contract for 10 of the jets three years ago.
The planes feature blended winglets — wing-tip extentions that improve fuel efficiency by up to 4 percent, increase flying range and reduce takeoff noise and carbon dioxide emissions, the companies said.
Boeing says it has already recorded the orders on its website that were previously attributed to an unidentified customer.
